Foundation Year 3: The growing trend. What effect is it having on surgical recruitment and how can we ensure a future generation of surgeons?

Summary:
We are now accepting entries for this year's ASiT/SURGERY Journal/Elsevier Foundation Trainee Essay Prize. Essays of no more than 1500 words are invited exploring the following title:
Foundation Year 3: The growing trend. What effect is it having on surgical recruitment and how can we ensure a future generation of surgeons?

Other Requirements:
Entrants must be ASiT members and employed in a UK Foundation Programme (or ROI internship) approved post at the time of application.
Essays should be written in Arial size 12-font, double spaced and referenced in the Vancouver style. Essays should not exceed 1500 words (excluding cover page and reference list).
Applicants should include a cover page detailing their full name, ASiT membership number, year of Foundation training, training region, email address and postal address.
Incentives:
The fantastic prizes, sponsored by SURGERY Journal, will be:
1st place: Essay published in SURGERY Journal, £200 of Elsevier Store Book Vouchers AND a year's free subscription to SURGERY Journal.
2nd place: £100 of Elsevier Store Book Vouchers
3rd place: £50 of Elsevier Store Book Vouchers
